Welcome to Museum of the Horse. We are open.

Visiting Us.

We are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm but last entry 3.30 pm. And Saturday 9am-2pm, last entry 1pm.  Other times can sometimes be available for groups by appointment.

Entry is currently free but we would appreciate a donation depending on how much you think it is worth.

We can supply a quiz for children.

Parties are welcome on the same basis. We can also arrange a curious object quiz £25 and a guided tour £25 but both need to be booked beforehand.

School Visits

School parties are very welcome. We are preparing a variety of suitable packages. Please tell us what you would like.

Directions

One minute off the Northbound A1, Tuxford and Ollerton turn off  A6075 and at the end of the road off you will see the Museum in front of you.

Three minutes off the Southbound A1 Lincoln A57 turn off, right over flyover and follow signs to Tuxford

You will see the building as you drive into Tuxford. Turn into Newcastle Street beside the Museum and immediately right under the archway into our free private car park but access is only suitable for low vehicles. 

Coaches normally disembark on Newcastle Street and then park at the lorry park at Markham Moor.

There is pedestrian access through our courtyard.

Facilities

There is free parking in our car park behind the museum accessed off Newcastle Street. Please look out for pedestrians! 

You can access the museum via the courtyard off the car park. It can also be accessed via the front door on the main road.

There is a coffee shop in the courtyard serving light lunches, cream teas and drinks,

There are lavatory facilties in the coffee shop and the gallery.

Disabled Access.

We have disabled access and facilities to the gallery below the museum where you can see the sleigh and the Mail coach but sadly being a grade 11  listed building we are not allowed disabled access to the museum. If you cannot access the museum please contact us beforehand with your particular interests and we will try to show you film and objects downstairs in the gallery.

We hold seminars for other societies. 

We offer meeting room space and gallery hire.
