Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Museum of the Horse.  We hope you will enjoy browsing through examples from our collections and maybe come and visit us one day. If you are visiting and want to see a particular item, do contact us beforehand and we will do our best to make the item available.

Please note: The Talk on 15th September is now full. We will be holding an additional talk on Thursday 12th September at 7.00pm. Please call 01777 838234 to book your place. The Museum will be open from 6.00pm if you are attending.

Our vision is to create the most interesting horse museum you will see anywhere in the world, to establish us as a must-see destination for colleges and schools as well as individuals who want an enjoyable day out.

Our mission is to collect and conserve rare items for posterity, to educate and to entertain.

Please do come and support us. Make a day of it with a light lunch in the courtyard. We are very easy to find being one minute off the A1 in North Nottinghamshire.

If you would like to make a long weekend of it there are lots of interesting places close by including Sherwood Forest and the beautiful old City of Lincoln with its castle, cathedral and beautiful medieval houses. Within two miles of the museum is one of the oldest Saxon churches in England and a Mausoleum to Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire. Do ask for further details.
